Bronx Character Comprassion

While reading Bronx we have learned about many different characters. All of the characters are different, but they are similar in some ways. One way that they are similar is that they all have problems. Like Lupe has family problems, Wesley thinks he is going to die, Diondra has problems with her father, Gloria is a teen mom, and Chankara is getting hit by her boyfriend.

Wesley, and Tyrone are similar and different in some ways. One way that they are similar is because they are both African American. One difference is that Wesley cares about school, but doesn't like to show it, while Tyrone does not like school at all, and thinks that school is a complete joke. For some weird reason Wesley is scared for his life, and thinks that he is going to end up dead, while Tyrone is not scared for his life.

The next two characters that I am going to compare, contrast are Gloria, and Lupe. Gloria is a teen mom, and is struggling taking care of her child, because the father had told her that he does not want anything to do with the baby, while Lupe thinks that Gloria is lucky to have a child, and wants to become a teen mom too. Even though Lupe sees how bad Gloria is struggling, she still want's a baby really badly, and Gloria wants her to see that. They both have many problems. Gloria does not have time for sleep, or study for test, and school in general, while Lupe is having family problems. Her father had left her mom, and her alone along time ago, her mother is currently in a abusive relationship, and her step father say's mean things to her. These just four of the many characters in this book.

Poetry Response

The poem that I have chosen is the "Magical Eraser" by Shel Siverstein. The poem "Magical Eraser" is about this boy who has a pencil that has a magical eraser. When he tells this girl about it she doesn't believe him. So to prove it to her that the eraser is magical he erases her.
I think that Shel Siverstein had written this book because he had wanted kids to have a good time, and a good laugh while reading this poem. That's why I actually think why he had written all of his poems, just to get kids to have a good time, and a good laugh while reading his poems.
The only thing that I had visualized while reading this poem was the boy with the magical eraser erasing everything. When I say I mean everything. That's the only thing I had visualized while reading this poem.

2nd Quarter Reflection

Since the second quarter has come to a close it is now time to do a reflection. The second quarter has been good and bad. Math is still easy for me which great, but I am struggling with ELA. I am doing kind of bad in the vocabulary and prefix tests because I don't study, and if I don't study then I won't be able to get a good grade on it. Even though I am struggling with the vocabulary I am doing  a lot better in the prefix part.

The most difficult thing in the second quarter was the homework. Sometimes in the day I don't get to all of my homework, because I don't have a lot of time in the day. What I can do to improve this is by managing my time so I can get to my homework. Since I haven't been able to get my homework done I have gotten Falcon Fouls, and since I get Falcon Fouls I get detentions. So far I have only had one detention this quarter, because I got 4 Falcon Fouls for not doing my homework.

Book Talk

Book: The Titans Curse
Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fiction
Pages: 1 to 60

Today I am going to be talking about The Titans Curse. So far I have only read 60 pages of the book. If you have read any of the Percy Jackson books before, you already know that the book is about Greek Mythology.

The book follows Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon as he try's to rescue his friend Annabeth, daughter of Athena. After a rescue mission went wrong they were attacked, and Annabeth tackled someone of cliff she has not been seen. The goddess of the hunt Artemis has gone missing! So now Percy and friends have to go on a quest to save Artemis, and Annabeth.

This book, along with the whole entire series, is one of my all time favorite books of all time. I enjoy all the books in the series because of how the author wrote them. He wrote them with a ton of action, and detail. I think that one of the themes that most fits this book is perseverance. Perseverance most fits this book because a ton of bad things happen to the group, and people die but they don't give up.
